QIAN Huikang: GM Shall Introduce another 17 New Cars into Chinese Market

At Detrol Auto Exhibition, GM attracts media is not only by new car introduction, but also by its new first female CEO Mary Barra and her team show up. Their series new products refer that GM is already to get out of Economy crisis and initial a new journey.

GM China welcomes its first Chinese president QAIN Huikang. At present, it is key period for GM in Chinese market. Qian Huikang faces stiff challenge from other automobile companies which want to take Chinese market sales champion from GM.

QIAN Huikang told media at the exhibition that GM will launch about 17 new cars into Chinese market, and will enter segment such as SUV. “Future of GM in Chinese market is still very optimism in the next couple of years.”

In 2013, GM sales in China have exceeded 3 million at the first time, which reaches to 3.16 million. But growth rate lose 3% over the industry average. It was sales champion of Chinese market for as long as 9 years, but the position is taken back by Volkswagen with slight advantage.

QIAN Huikang says that “Chinese passenger car segment shall grow 8%- 10% stable. Goal of GM shall exceed industry average growth rate.” Obviously, remaining 3 million sales volume and do not drop down is the first target for QIAN Huikang at moment.

GM initials its new around productslaunching period. It is the most important method to remain is leading position. Bob Socia, former president of GM, has made 3 directions for the company, which refers to SUV, export and Cardiac strength. It works at certain degree, particularly export volume has far more than other companies do. At present, QIAN Huikang will remain the direction, and the most important is to strength SUV production line China made.

According to QIAN Huikang introduction, GM shall introduce 17 new cars into Chinese market this year. (Include total new cars and modified cars) GM will enter new segment such as SUV. And it will introduce more than 1 SUV into market. GM brands include Buick, Chevrolet, Cardiac and Baojun. The four passenger car brands will cover SUV segment. It is the advantage for GM to own such wide brands. “GM definitely has ability to cover SUV segment”. Just like insider said.
