HUTCHISON Port Holdings Ltd, the world's largest container-terminal operator, has formed a freight-handling venture with Xiamen International Port Co as China mainland's surging trade growth boosts sea-cargo demand.

The venture will manage a berth in Xiamen, the mainland's seventh busiest port, and help coordinate operations at two other ports, Xiamen International said in a statement.

Xiamen International will hold 51 percent of the venture, with Hutchison Port owning the rest.
