THE Shanghai branch of the China Banking Regulatory Commission said yesterday it has received applications to issue yuan-backed debit cards from four overseas lenders - HSBC, Citibank, Bank of East Asia and Standard Chartered Bank.
The four are the first batch of overseas banks to submit the applications. Their yuan cards are expected to be issued in China within this year, the regulator said.
