China's Insurers Invest over 1.6 Trln Yuan by End-July

China's insurance industry had allocated around 1.63 trln yuan to investments in bonds, stocks, equity stakes and funds at the end of July, according to data from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC.)

Another 701 bln yuan was held in deposits at end-July, the regulator noted.

At the end of June, the industry had allocated 1.55 trln yuan to investments and 754 bln yuan to deposits.

The insurance industry's assets totaled at 2.59 trln yuan at the end of July, compared with 2.53 trln at end-June.

Earlier, the CIRC said the industry realized investment gains (including deposit interest) of 137.4 bln yuan in the first half to June, a rise of 260 pct year-on-year. About 73 pct of the gains were from investments in managed funds and stock markets as well as stakes in non-listed companies.
