Xiangtan Electrochemical Scientific Co., Ltd. is principally engaged in the research, development, production and sale of manganese dioxide, electrolytic manganese metal, battery materials and other related energy materials. The Company primarily provides general type manganese dioxide, mercury-free manganese dioxide, lithium manganese and manganese metal, among others. During the year ended December 31, 2009, the Company produced approximately 4,036 tons of manganese metal and 45,499 tons of electrolytic manganese dioxide, as well as sold approximately 3,789 tons of manganese metal and 50,817 tons of electrolytic manganese dioxide. The Company operates its businesses in both domestic markets and overseas markets.

It was founded by Xiangtan Electrochemical Group Co, as a host initiator, united other four superiority enterprises with 75.4 million registered capital on September. 30, 2000. The company was listed in the stock market on April 3, 2007. And now there are 978 employees in all, 411 of them received at least college’s education, 10 of them are senior technical job titles. 
　　The running range of company covers the research, development, producing and sale of electric manganese dioxide (EMD for short), cell material and other new material of energy. The main product of company now is electric manganese dioxide. According to the products’ type, there are three kinds of EMD products: common EMD, common alkali grade manganese EMD and alkali grade manganese EMD without hydrargyrum.
　　Currently, Xiangtan Electrochemical, with a production of 55000 tons a year, is the largest enterprise of China both to produce EMD and a special EMD for alkali manganese battery without hydrargyrum (one of the green high-energy environmental cells). It is the largest scale in the single factory all over the world and possesses 12.98% of world production. As the oldest enterprise in China to produce EMD, the company firstly developed the new technology of producing alkali grade EMD without hydrargyrum by taking MnCO3 lean ore as raw material. Xiangtan Electrochemical enjoys a high reputation in EMD field both home and abroad and keeps a long and constant cooperation relationship with many famous battery producers, such as Duracell, High-energy, Panasonic, Rayovac&Varta, Nanfu, Zhongyin, etc. It is also the first domestic enterprise that passed ISO9002 quality system and is identified high and new technology enterprise by HNST (Hunan Science and Technology Department). There is the first production line of alkali manganese grade EMD without hydrargyrum of China. The line was identified typical program of national high technology, and alkali manganese grade EMD without hydrargyrum was identified national key new product by related national ministries?.
