Honda Motor Co. (7267.T: Quote, NEWS , Research) sold 33,944 vehicles in China in April, up 27.4 percent from a year earlier, outperforming 16 percent growth in the overall market.

Sales from its tie-up with Dongfeng Motor Group Co. Ltd. (0489.HK: Quote, Profile , Research) came to 9,415 units in April, up sharply from 2,200 units a year earlier, it said in a statement late on Wednesday.

Sales from its venture in south China climbed slightly to 24,529 units from the year-ago level of 24,448 units, it said. From January to April, the number-two Japanese automaker sold 121,042 vehicles in China, up 31.1 percent from a year earlier, it added.
