GAC may restart listing A-shares by end of 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 12) - Zhang Fangyou, board chairman of the Guangzhou Automobile Group, confirmed that GAC Group would potentially be returning to the A-shares market by the end of the year, China Business News reported today. Mr. Zhang made the announcement at the floor of the Global Automotive Forum in Chengdu, Sichuan. GAC would return to the market by absorbing GAC Changfeng, which would make the manufacturer the first Chinese automobile enterprise to issue both A- and H-shares.

From a financial point of view, GAC Group has constantly ranked among the leading automobile manufacturers. GAC first started listing H-shares last August. GAC Group and Changfeng have already voted on merging with the aim of bring the former to the A-shares market. The decision is currently awaiting approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

Analysts believe that the move will help GAC establish a link to both the international and domestic markets, which ultimately will aid in increasing in its returns. According to Mr. Zhang (pictured), more diversified enterprises are the direction the Chinese automotive industry needs to take.
