CHINA Resources Power Holdings Co (stock code: 0836), the third-largest Hong Kong-listed Chinese generator, increased electricity output by 69 percent in the first five months of this year as economic growth prompted higher demand.

The utility produced 17 million megawatt-hours of power from January to May, against 10 million megawatt-hours a year earlier, the Hong Kong-based company said in an e-mailed statement last week. Chinese power producers are increasing output to supply electricity to carmakers, factories and petrochemical plants in the world's fastest-growing major economy.
