BRILLIANCE China Automotive Holdings Ltd plans to start selling a US$20,000 vehicle in the US next year, BusinessWeek reported, citing David Shelburg, chief executive of China Motor, the Chinese automaker's US dealer.
The vehicle is being certified against US safety and emission requirements, the magazine said. The article didn't say what type of vehicle it was. About 100 US dealers already want to carry Brilliance vehicles, the article said, citing Shelburg.
Brilliance China has already begun selling a US$30,000 sedan in Europe and it plans to add at least two more models there next year, the report said.
The automaker, based in Hong Kong, is a Chinese partner of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG.
