VOLKSWAGEN AG will increase production of Jetta sedans in China by at least 14 percent because of rising demand for the country's best-selling car. The auto maker's Chinese partner will build 24,000 Jettas a year at a plant in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Volkswagen said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.

The German auto maker's first-half sales in the country rose 25 percent. FAW Volkswagen Automobile Co, Volkswagen's venture with China FAW Group Corp, made 175,742 Jettas in Changchun City last year, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
