NANJING MG Automotive Co Ltd, which invested in the failed British MG Rover Corp, announced the price of its Chinese-made MG models yesterday, putting it in competition with its home rival, the Roewe 750.
The long version of the MG 7 with a 2.5-liter engine will sell for 302,800 yuan (US$39,926) while three 1.8-liter configurations are priced between 171,600 yuan and 201,600 yuan. The price of a 2.5-liter-engine Roewe 750, developed on almost the same platform by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp, has a price tag between 231,800 yuan and 276,800 yuan. Orders for the MG 7 series started to be taken yesterday through 40 dealers nationwide.
