HISENSE Electric Co Ltd plans to invest 700 million yuan (US$93.19 million) in five production lines to make modules of liquid crystal display televisions, the Shandong Provincebased company said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange yesterday.
The first production line will start operations this year with a capacity of 500,000 modules annually. Another two lines will begin next year and the remaining two will be built by 2009. Total annual production capacity will reach three million units by then. The move will enable Hisense to design, develop, produce and sell a category of LCD televisions with sizes ranging from 15 inches to 42 inches, the statement said.
