CHINA may start imposing taxes on emissions from cars by 2010, Xinhua news agency reported yesterday, citing a government official.

The State Environmental Protection Administration, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation are studying taxes on emissions and pollution, Yang Chaofei, an official with the environmental agency, was quoted as saying.
