Beijing's first ever automatic train that has been designed to serve the upcoming new wing of its Capital International Airport was put on a trial Tuesday.
The express rail device works to shuttle passengers from one terminal to another.
Three stops are arranged along the passenger delivery line, at Terminal 3A, Terminal 3B and Terminal 3C. The entire rail line is about 5 kilometres long.
Trains, with four air-conditioned carriages for each, run through the line every 5 minutes. Each train can hold a maximum of 4,100 passengers.
The airport train will formally start operation on February 29, 2008, in conjunction with the opening of the capital airport's new passenger terminal.
