Vestas Wind Systems A/S, the world's biggest wind-turbine maker, won its biggest order from China, for 232 units with a total production capacity of 197.2 megawatts.

The V52-850 kilowatt wind turbines were bought by China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power Co and will be installed at four wind farms in Inner Mongolia, Randers, Denmark-based Vestas said in a statement to the Copenhagen Exchange.

China may become the world's largest wind-power market in three to five years, Vestas Chief Executive Officer Ditlev Engel said on September 21.

The company didn't provide financial details of the order. An order is worth about one million euros (US$1.45 million) per megawatt, Vestas analysts, including Kitty Groen with Handelsbanken Capital Markets, estimate.

"Wind power is becoming a big hit in China and we're very happy to get this order, which is the single biggest ever in China," Thorbjoern Rasmussen, CEO of Vestas' Asia-Pacific division, said by telephone from Singapore. "Guangdong Nuclear is a new customer for us and we're glad to form a close partnership with them."
