CHINA Shenhua Energy Co has won approval from the National Development and Reform Commission to build a joint venture coal-fired power plant in Indonesia.
The approval from NDRC, China's top planning body, means the project has passed examination by both Chinese and Indonesian governments, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said yesterday.
The project will include two 150-megawatt generation units and a supporting coal mine capable of producing 1.5 million to two million tons of the fuel per year in South Sumatra, SASAC said.
Construction will start this year and operation is set to start in 2010.
