China, the world's biggest energy consumer after the US, increased its power generation by 11.3 percent in the first two months of the year as electricity demand rises in the world's fastest-growing major economy.
Power generation reached 516.9 million megawatt-hours in January and February, the Beijing-based China Electricity Council said in a statement on its Website last Friday. Power demand climbed 11.9 percent to 523.9 million megawatt-hours during the period.
