July 14 -- Environment protection organization Greenpeace accused two suppliers of Adidas, H&M, Lacoste, Converse, CK, Li Ning (2331.HK) and Shanghai Metersbonwe Fashion and Accessories (002269) of discharging toxic chemicals into rivers, causing harm to human health and the ecological system, reports Oriental Morning Post.

One of the suppliers, Ningbo-based Younger Textile Industrial, is a unit of Youngor Group (600177).

According to Greenpeace, samples collected from the wastewater discharges were sent to laboratories in the Netherlands and the U.K. for tests.

The results indicated that the wastewater discharges contained hormone-disrupting chemicals such as nonyl phenol (NP), PFOS, and perfluoro caprylic acid (PFOA), which damage the immune system and the liver.

China had placed NP into the category of poisonous chemicals which face import restrictions in January 2011.

A manager surnamed Yu from Youngor’s public relations department was skeptical of the report and said the company's discharge of wastewater met the national standard.
