According to Transportation Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, as of the end of June 2011, vehicle population registered as high up to 217 million nationwide, wherein, amount of automobile and motorcycle was 98.46 million and 102 million respectively. Private car reached 72.06 million, up 10.2 percentage point compared to the end of 2010, accounting for 73.2% of the total population.

Although the automobile population in China achieves the global leading level in general, the automobile population is under 60 per thousand people, which is less than half of the world average. Therefore, there is huge potential for the owning rate of private car in China.
