(AAPL) appeared on the website China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) launched for the management of network admittance of telecom equipment on September 5.

In industry observer's opinion, the terminal is likely to be iPad 2 and the tablet computer will formally debut on the Chinese market soon. At this, Chen Xudong, vice president of Chinese PC maker Lenovo Group Ltd. (sehk:0992), said that Apple was strong in tablet computers but it did not mean that others would have no chance in the filed. Based on edge in product innovation, sales channel and service, Lenovo is confident of competing with the US company.

China is regarded as one of the most potential market in the world and in it, Apple exceeded Lenovo for the first time in terms of sales value last quarter. According to financial results both companies released for the second quarter of the fiscal year, Apple's sales value in the Greater China region reached USD 3.8 billion, compared to USD 2.8 billion of Lenovo. However, Chen regarded this as good news as Lenovo had not had a potential rival for a long period of time. Apple dominates the nation's high-end tablet computer market but Lenovo aims to satisfy the demand of consumers with different income, including selling low-priced tablet computers to the poor. And so far, it has stretched out reach to over 86 percent of the county-level markets.

HP, one of the biggest PC makers in the world, said not long ago that it would give up operations related to TouchPad and WebOS mobile phones. In addition, China has exceeded the US in terms of PC shipment in the second quarter of this year, according to the latest statistics by IDC. In line with industry observers, provided that HP spins off its PC business, there will be great possibility for Lenovo to become the world's biggest PC maker.

Currently, HP and Dell take the first two places in the world in terms of PC shipment. Lenovo took the place of Acer and ranks No.3 with a market share of 12.2 percent. According to its recent quarterly financial results, the sales it reaped in the Chinese market reached USD 2.8 billion, accounting for 47.9 percent of the total seized in the global market, with market share up 2.3 percentage points to 31.7 percent. The PC sales volume rose 23.1 percent year on year, compared to an average of 2.7 percent globally. Through launching products with different prices, it expects to see sales seized in the Chinese market account for 35 percent of the total reaped in the global market within two to three years.
