Ad spend boom is set to heat up further

CHINA'S advertising spending, including print, outdoor and digital media, will maintain growth of at least 15 percent over the next two years as the country's economy booms, according to a research.

Total advertising spending in China will reach 347.5 billion yuan (US$54.4 billion) this year, a 15.2 percent growth from that of 2010, according to media investment management firm GroupM China's China Media Forecasts.

It said advertising expenditure is expected to increase a further 16.9 percent to 406 billion yuan in 2012.

Television is set to dominate media spending, with a 58 percent share of overall advertising expenditure this year and a 13 percent growth rate.

Internet advertising is expected to grow 46 percent this year and 44 percent in 2012, the highest growth of all sectors.

The sector is also expected to exceed advertising spending in print media by 8 billion yuan to take 67.7 billion yuan next year, the report said.
