Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 24) - Karl-Thomas Neumann, president and CEO of Volkswagen China, announced today that VW fulfilled its goal to become the best selling manufacturer in South China, the Beijing Times reported today.

According to Dr. Neumann, VW's market coverage in South China has increased from 12 percent in 2008 to 15.8 percent this year. Meanwhile, the number of VW dealers has increased 25 percent in two years.

VW hopes to break the two million sales barrier in China this year, Su Weiming, executive vice president for VW China, said in a media conference. The manufacturer has also decided to invest 14 billion euros ($18.8b) in the South China region beginning next year.

VW has sold 1.89 million vehicles in the country since the start of the year. VW branded vehicles made up over 1.4 million of that number, while Skoda sales accounted for 190,000 units. Sales of VW's other subsidiary, Audi, have already matched its 2010 total.
