Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile, China FAW Group's subsidiary specializing in the production of low-priced cars, announced on November 9 production and sales volume of 17,063 units and 20,385 units for October, down 17.4 percent and 17.9 percent, respectively, compared to the same month of last year. During the first ten months, total production and sales volume jumped 7.9 percent and 6.3 percent year on year to 212,100 units and 209,300 units respectively.

Sales volumes of V-series and Xiali automobiles were 4,156 units and 13,268 units in October, down 3.2 percent and 21 respectively over the same period of the previous year, while total sales of the two series jumped to 50,478 units and 158,787 units respectively for the first ten months.

While FAW Xiali has experienced losses over the past few years due to the relatively long time to market and lower pricing, the automaker has significantly enhanced the quality of its products through continuous investments in research and development. FAW Xiali said that with a production capacity of 400,000 complete vehicles, engines and transmission, combined with the launch of new models in the future, including A-class sedans, the company expects to optimize its product mix and improve operating results.
