Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 21) - Of the 66 automobile recalls issued in China this year, only one for domestic own brand, sanqindaily.com reported today, quoting statistics from qiche365.org.cn.

The only recall of a domestic own brand model occurred in April, when 4,685 Great Wall Cross Voleex C30 (pictured above) sedans were recalled due to the faulty Kumho tires they were equipped with. It was discovered soon afterwards that the defects in the tires were not limited exclusively to Great Wall models. However, other manufacturers elected to replace the tires without issuing recalls.

Despite sales of domestically made vehicles constantly growing, the number of vehicles recalled has stayed about the same. Of the 56 recalls in 2009, only two were for own brands, while in the following year, only one own brand model (the Chery X1, pictured below) was recalled out of a total of 95 orders.

The remaining 65 recalls this year were for imported or joint venture models, with the former accounting for most of them. In the last two months alone there have been a total of eight recalls for imported vehicles.
