Asustek announces revenues for 2011; conservative about 1Q12 performance

Asustek Computer has announced consolidated revenues of NT$30.5 billion (US$1.01 billion) for December of 2011, down 25% on month, while consolidated results reached NT$100 billion for the fourth quarter of 2011, a slight drop on quarter, and NT$350 billion for 2011, a new historical record.

As for the first quarter of 2012, company CFO David Chang pointed out that the company is conservative about its performance as the IT market has already entered the traditional slow season, while the exchange rate of euro is fluctuating. Some market watchers believe Asustek may suffer a 20% on-quarter drop in the first quarter with revenues to reach NT$80-82 billion.

The company shipped 14.7 million notebooks (not include netbook) and 4.8 million netbooks in 2011 and is set to ship 22-23.8 million notebooks and netbooks together in 2012 with notebook to account for 19.3-19.8 million units.

The company also shipped 1.8 million tablet PCs and 23.5 million motherboards in 2011 with volume in 2012 to reach 3-6 million units and 24.5-25 million units, respectively.
