Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), despite being named a fear factory by the US media, still attracted large amounts of people in China looking for work, and the company's plants in Shenzhen, Zhengzhou and Wuhan all attracted large crowds looking for jobs after the Lunar New Year.

Although Foxconn has been named as having a cruel working environment, since the company offers a relatively higher wage and is paying salaries at a rather steady schedule, the two factors still drive large amounts of people in China to seek jobs with the company.

At the company's plants in Zhengzhou, the base salary for a standard operator is CNY2,650 (US$261.76) and may increase to CNY2,300-2,400 after evaluation, while the company is also offering accommodation. Compared to other smaller players, Foxconn provides a better offering that is causing the smaller players to suffer from serious labor shortages.
