Changzhou National Hi-Tech District

   Date:2006/12/31

Recently, Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND) sponsored a signing ceremony of agreement between automotive parts and components companies, including Changzhou Fuman Automotive Parts Co., Ltd., and institutions of higher learning including Jiangsu University, Beijing Space and Aeronautic University and Shanghai Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute.

This agreement is in relation to their joint efforts on 18 cooperative projects related to body designs and parts and components development. Together with many other actions, this joint construction of the R&D and manufacturing base will lay a solid foundation for CND to accelerate the automotive activities in parts and components sectors.

Automotive parts and components have become one of the major industries in the CND. In the past few years, many famous companies established their facilities here including Dongfeng Auto Works (Changzhou) that is engaged in the development and manufacturing of DF Vehicles; Sino-US Visteon TYC, dedicated to vehicle lighting manufacturing; SENSIDA, working on vehicle air conditioners; and Taiwan-based KYMCO, who produce motorcycles.

There are many others who focus on a broad range of vehicle EMS equipment like harnesses, cables, electronics, shock absorbers, fuel distributors and pressure sensors. In China's eastern market of automotive and motorcycles, CND has secured its leading position as the manufacturing base with its full line of products and capacities.

Based on information from Director Liu Bin, CND Science & Technology Bureau, the total sales volume in 2005 reached 1.50 million units within a 300 km circumference around Changzhou, representing 26.3% of the total China market.

The total sales revenue of 500 parts and components companies was over RMB40.00 billion. In Changzhou, the automotive parts and components industry provided more than 50,000 jobs with a turnover of RMB10.00 billion. For many of those products including ''Pickup 118'', manufacturers in CND fully own the IPR.
