Chinese Automobile Sales Rebound in November

   Date:2011/12/15

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 14) - Following a slow September and October, sales of passenger vehicles have begun to rebound in November, with monthly sales totaling 1.34 million units, cjn.cn reported today. The figure represents growth of over ten percent from October. Meanwhile, 1.37 million vehicles were manufactured in November, 8.9 percent higher than the previous month.

Statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that 13.12 million and 13.1 million passenger vehicles were manufactured and sold in the country, respectively. Both figures represent growth of just over five percent from 2010.

Chinese own brand manufacturers failed to live up to expectations, with their sales and market coverage constantly decreasing. Domestic manufactured vehicles made up 42.15 percent of all passenger vehicles sales, 3.28 percent lower than their 2010 amount. Meanwhile, Japanese manufacturers, despite having to suffer the effect of natural disasters earlier this year, still managed to constitute nearly 20 percent of all sales. They were followed by German and US manufacturers, whose models accounted for 16.52 percent and 11.27 percent of all sales, respectively.

As before, SAIC led the sales charts, followed by Dongfeng and FAW. Dongfeng, however, does not expect to fulfill its annual sales target of 2.9 million units.
