ALCATEL-LUCENT, the world's biggest supplier of telecommunications equipment, has won US$460 million in orders from China's two mobile-phone operators.

The equipment maker will supply China Mobile Ltd, the world's largest wireless carrier, with US$340 million worth of network gear and services, Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent said in a statement on late Wednesday. The company said it won US$120 million in orders from China Unicom Ltd, Bloomberg News reported.

An earlier Alcatel-Lucent document obtained by Bloomberg said the equipment maker won US$115 million in orders from China Unicom.

Alcatel Shanghai Bell, an Alcatel-Lucent venture in China, will provide China Mobile with equipment using the global system for mobile communications, or GSM, standard, the company said in the statement.
