Cell phone users can now book air tickets only by moving their thumb, not matter where they are. On Monday, Spring Airlines and China Construction Bank launched cell phone services for buying air tickets, the first time ever in China. The carrier also expects to offer 1 yuan air tickets (0.13 US dollars) after the relaxation of aviation price controls.

There are only five steps to book an air ticket by way of your cell phone. Customers should confirm twice after the order and payment have gone through, in case of any mistakes. Furthermore, customers can also inquire about flight details with their cell phone. "For any flight, the price on the website and for cell phone users is always the cheapest," said Wang Zhenghua, chairman of the board of directors with Spring Airlines.

The company also announced that there will be three lucky customers who get free tickets daily.

At present, 70 percent of business tickets sold by Spring Airlines are paid for via the Internet. Cell phone services will no doubt change this traditional method.

Wang Zhenghua also said on Monday that Spring Airlines will continue to offer 1 yuan air tickets after the relaxation of aviation price controls. "At present, the ratio of seats occupied by Spring Airlines is 95 percent, the remaining 5 percent is a wasted resource. One yuan tickets can actually integrate this resource." Thus, in this way Spring Airlines can accumulate more customers and a greater number of passengers can enjoy cheap airline flights.

Last year, Spring Airlines was fined by the Jinan Price Bureau for issuing 1 yuan air tickets.

Spring Airlines said that they will try to make prices even lower next year, at only 54 percent of the average market price, and as low as 90 percent of the current price. Besides this, there will be three lucky customers picked at random daily who will win free air tickets (excluding jet fuel surcharges and airport construction tax) from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31. This move hopes to encourage customers to choose cell phone services over other means. Meanwhile, Spring Airlines will also launch 99 yuan (13.33 US dollars) promotional tickets every day for 1,500 customers, with cell phone users getting priority.
