Reliable services need to be delivered by wireless operators to customers. At the same time, wireless operators need to reduce their operating costs. A balanced approach therefore needs to be carried out by wireless operators. CommScope's smoothwall RF feeder coaxial cable are being deployed by China Unicom (News  - Alert) in projects in Guangxi Province.

As compared to the traditional corrugated copper cabling, these cables provide superior performance and cost savings for China Unicom. The 550,000 square meters Beihai top Northern Bay residential complex will also deploy HELIAX FXL coaxial cables. China Unicom is one of the largest carriers in China.

In a release, Chinnee Tong, VP of China Sales at CommScope said, “Most wireless operators demand high quality products to build their networks, unwilling to sacrifice performance for cost savings. We are excited that China Unicom has joined many other wireless operators in trusting the performance advantages of our HELIAX FXL coaxial cable.”

Aluminum is used as the electrical conduit of the cable's outer conductor by CommScope’s HELIAX FXL smoothwall cable. Superior performance and efficiency are offered by the cable's patented microcell dielectric and foam-filled inner conductor. Apart from faster and easier deployments, the cable offers reliability, consistency and cost savings.

HELIAX FXL cable is paving the way for an eco-friendly communications infrastructure around the world with more than 100 million feet already deployed worldwide. The Golden Award for Green Communication Energy-Efficiency Technology in China has been won by the smoothwall cable. Less electric power and fuel are required by HELIAX FX for manufacture and transport. It is also less prone to theft as its outer conductor is made of aluminum.

According to a China Unicom official, for years CommScope's wireless solutions are known for quality and versatility under the Andrew brand. These benefits have now been extended and strengthened HELIAX FXL cable.

Tong said, “HELIAX FXL represents another evolution in wireless network infrastructure technology, offering significant benefits to operators worldwide. And competition is intense in a rapidly growing market for mobile subscriptions such as China, adding to the importance of operators balancing the need for the highest performance in their networks while keeping costs low. HELIAX FXL helps operators accomplish that balance.”

In other news, China Unicom recently signed a strategic cooperative agreement with the local government at the Eighth China-ASEAN Expo to build an international bureau in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in South China, to better serve as an information exchange center and platform for China-ASEAN communications.
