Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 23) - The BMW X1 will be the first vehicle rolling off the assembly lines at Brilliance BMW's new factory, China Business News reported today. The new factory, located in Shenyang's Tiexi district, will begin production in 2012. The manufacturer made the announcement at the floor of the currently ongoing the Guangzhou International Motor Show, Auto Guangzhou 2011.
Preliminary construction on the new factory has already been finished, and it is currently undergoing equipment testing. The next generation BMW 3 Series will also be manufactured at the new site.
BMW also has plans to build a new engine factory and R&D center in China. The manufacturer announced that new BMWTwin Power Turbo series of engines will be built at the Shenyang factory. Meanwhile, domestic production of the long wheelbase version of the 5 Series will start by the end of this year, with a portion of the vehicles being destined for overseas markets.
