Asia Tech Image to hike contact image sensor module capacity

   Date:2012-02-17

Asia Tech Image, a Taiwan-based maker of contact image sensor modules (CISMs) used in multi-function peripherals, will invest NT$100-150 million (US$3.4-5.1 million) to expand its annual production capacity from 21 million CISMs currently to 24 million units in 2012, according to company president Iris Wu at a February 16 investors conference.

Hewlett-Packard, Seiko Epson, Samsung Electronics, Lexmark, Brother, and Eastman Kodak are Asia Tech clients. In 2011, Asia Tech shipped 21 million CISMs for a global market share of 33%, next only to Taiwan-based Creative Sensor.

Canon maintains in-house CISMs production, but Asia Tech hopes it will release outsourced orders.
