According to Chen Jiayuan, General Manager of Shantui Excavator Department, Chinese excavator market in 2011 shows the characteristics of high start and low end. There are 3 major reasons. First, Chinese micro-policy and stubbornly high CPI cause the low operating rate of large-scale projects. Second, due to the rapid development of excavator industry in recent decade, there are 1.2-1.4 million excavators in China. The third reason is overcapacity. The large amount of excavators and overcapacity indicate that the excavator market in 2012 is likely to keep the level of 2011, and the full recovery of the market is expected to happen in 2013.
