On May 29, Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Hisense (600060.SH) announced that it will establish an RMB 100 mln fund for smart TV application development, and will partner with angel investors on an RMB 1 bln plan to encourage developers to develop applications for smart TVs. Hisense will also earmark RMB 10 mln in incentives for a smart TV application competition.

Hisense VP Wang Zhihao said that television apps would be the next battlefield after mobile internet apps.
