To date, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has released four new TD-SCDMA wireless wireline phones featuring mobile payment, M2M, and Wi-Fi functionality. The four products are the "Yigoutong," "Yijutong," access-point (AP), and Lakala phones. A visit to a smaller Beijing Mobile service center, however, revealed that most service centers did not have wireless wireline products for sale. A service center employee said that the new wireless wireline products were, for the most part, available for sale only at China Mobile's major service centers.

"Yigoutong" phones allow subscribers to conveniently pay utility bills, including water, electric, and gas bills, while Lakala phones provide mobile banking and payment services from Beijing-based third-party payment processor Lakala, including cash-back transactions, account transfers, payment remittances, bill paying, and phone account recharging.

"Yijutong" is an M2M application developed by China Mobile to offer intelligent security solutions. Yijutong phones integrate theft, fire, gas-leak, senior citizen emergency, and kidnapping alert functionality, and can be connected to home security systems, smoke detectors, gas detectors, and medical emergency alert devices, among other wireless devices and remote controls.

AP phones serve as wireless network routers, allowing home users to set up Wi-Fi networks.
