ZTE Corporation and Etisalat Misr have reached an agreement to expand the Egyptian operator’s network as part of 2012 expansion plans to meet forecast capacity requirements.

"Etisalat Misr believes in the capability of ZTE products and that was witnessed in the number of products introduced by ZTE to Etisalat Misr in 2011."

This contract is the second phase of the Etisalat Misr wireless network expansion plan agreed by both corporations covering the supply, installation and implementation of SDR UMTS equipment and BSS solutions on a turnkey basis. The plan is expected to expand to cover further infrastructure development, which is a major focus area for both corporations in 2012.

The two corporations have also agreed to extend the mutual strategic cooperation in other technology areas including microwave transmission, core networks, power solutions and value added services.

Jia Guijun, CEO of ZTE Egypt commented on the new agreement: "Etisalat Misr has achieved a remarkable success through its network expansion, and ZTE is pleased to be a strategic partner of Etisalat Misr in this next phase."

Haitham Abdul Razzak CTO of Etisalat Misr stated: "Etisalat Misr believes in the capability of ZTE products and that was witnessed in the number of products introduced by ZTE to Etisalat Misr in 2011."

Etisalat Misr has been leading the broadband market in Egypt since 2007 and was the first company in Africa to introduce HSPA + technology in the summer of 2009, providing Egyptian customers with internet speeds up to 42 Mbps, and will continue its technological evolution to maintain its broadband leadership in the Egyptian market.
