China Telecom, Xiamen Co. Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Xiamen Telecom) will upgrade the broadband speed to 10 megabytes per second (MB/s) for Xiamen Tianyi FTTH (Fiber to the Home) package users from 24th February, according to Thursday’s Strait Herald.

A relevant official of Xiamen Telecom said the upgrade is automatic and free for all FTTH broadband users of the Tianyi Light E9 package, business travel package, Tianyi broadband E9/A8 package independent version, Tianyi broadband year package, My e home packages (E9, E8) and Tianyi student packages.

For those traditional ADSL network users, the internet speed will not be increased due to technical problems, said the official.

The internet speed after the upgrade is expected to be 5 times faster compared to the averaged broadband speed of 2M/s in Xiamen.
