November 22 -- China recorded newly-installed power generation capacity of 60.37 million KW during the first 10 months, an increase of 3.66 million KW compared to the same period last year, reports Shanghai Securities News, citing the China Electricity Council.

The amount of newly-installed power generation capacity added in the third quarter increased 3.3 million KW year-on-year.

The scale of new power generation construction projects during the first 10 months fell 13.22 million KW year-on-year.

Through the end of October, the scale of thermal power generation capacity under construction was down by 21.22 million KW, or 24.9 percent, from the same period a year ago.

According to the China Electricity Council, the capacity of power generation equipment with 6,000 KW and above rose 10.5 percent year-on-year during the first 10 months. The growth rate was lower than the growth of national power generation volume by 1.8 percentage points.

During the same period, the capacity of thermal power generation equipment with 6,000 KW and above increased 9.1 percent year-on-year. The growth rate lagged that of national thermal power generation volume by 5.2 percentage points.

This indicated that the growth rate of installed power generation capacity is lower than that of power generation volume, according to the report.

During the first 10 months, the power generation volume of large-scale hydropower plants totaled 517.5 billion kWh, down 2.2 percent year-on-year, the first year-on-year decline for the same period since 2005.

Shares of Datang International Power Generation (601991.SH,0991.HK) were up 0.63 percent to close the morning session at 4.82 yuan.
