China Power Consumption Up 11.35% In Oct.

November 15 -- China recorded an 11.35 percent year-on-year rise in power consumption to 379.7 tWh in October, and power consumption in the first 10 months totaled 3,895.1 tWh, up 11.87 percent, according to the National Energy Administration.

During the first 10 months, the primary industry recorded a 4.38 percent year-on-year rise in power consumption to 87.2 tWh, the secondary industry posted a 12.16 percent increase in power consumption to 2,908.9 tWh, while the tertiary industry recorded power consumption of 425.2 tWh, up 13.62 percent.

Residential power consumption during the first 10 months increased 10.1 percent year-on-year to 473.7 tWh.

The average utilization hours of power generation plants across China hit 3,971 hours during the first 10 months, an increase of 60 hours year-on-year.

The average utilization hours of hydropower generation units fell 379 hours year-on-year to 2,639 hours, while that of thermal power generation plants increased 214 hours to 4,391 hours.

Investment in power generation facilities totaled 276 billion yuan in the first 10 months, of which 70.8 billion yuan were invested in hydropower, 81.8 billion yuan in thermal power, 60 billion yuan in nuclear power, and 55 billion yuan in wind power.

Shares of Datang International Power Generation rose 4.23 percent to trade at 5.18 yuan per share at 13:59 today.
